Pens have named assistant coaches and goaltenders for their upcoming training camp and preseason, which kicks off on Wednesday.

General manager Jim Rutherford has named assistant coach Scott Wilson as assistant coach for goaltending.

He replaces Mark Stone who left the club last week.

In addition, general manager Jim Benning named goaltender coach Matt Stajan as goaltending coach.

Stajan is the second goalie coach in Pens history.

He was a goaltender coach with the Boston Bruins from 2010-11 and was the team’s goalie coach from 2007-09.

He has been the goalie coach at the University of Vermont since 2008 and spent last season as an assistant coach with Providence College.

Benning also named assistant captain Mike Sullivan as assistant captain.

Sullivan was a rookie for the Penguins during the 2017-18 season and led the team in assists last season with 19 goals and 40 points.

He joined the Penguins from the Florida Panthers during the 2015-16 season.

Benner will also be joined by assistant coach Mike Gartner as he prepares to coach the first game of the 2018-2019 season.

Gartner will serve as goaltenders coach for the Pens, while Wilson will be in net for the team during training camp.

Wilson was a goaltending mentor for Staja during his time with the Bruins.
