New York’s capital, which has been hit by several devastating natural disasters in recent months, is reeling from a blaze and flash flood in the city’s Chinatown.
In the worst-hit part of Chinatown, a fire started on Monday morning that has damaged the building where the school is located, prompting authorities to shut it down for a few hours.
The school is still operating and classes are still being held, but the building is now a “ghost town” with no electricity, a building inspector said on Wednesday.
The fire, which started at the entrance of the building, caused $15 million worth of damage, including the loss of electrical service.
The fire was sparked when a hot gas line caught fire and sparked a fire that spread through the building.
The gas line was about 5 metres from the school’s main entrance, but due to the heat, it was only about 5m away, according to the Inspector General of the New York Fire Department.
The school was under the supervision of an electrical contractor, and all electrical services have been restored, the school said on its website.

The fire in the Chinatown section of the Chinese-American neighborhood, which was hit by two fires in the past 24 hours, is one of the worst in the New Yorker, Mayor Bill de Blasio said on Monday.
The buildings of the Chinese-American section of Chinatown have been hit hard by fires in recent years, with three fires in New York in 2017 alone.
“I have no idea how it happened,” de Blasio told reporters.
One of the buildings burned down on Monday, and the other one is in good condition, he added.
Two people have been killed and 14 others have been injured in the fires in Chinatown.
The blaze is believed to have started around 6pm local time on Monday and has burned through more than 4,500 square metres of the main area of the school, according the city Department of Buildings.
The building has been shut down for the time being, but officials say they are working to restore power to the entire area.
The building is about 6m (20ft) wide, 8m (26ft) long and has eight levels, according New York Times.
A sign for the building reads: A building is being constructed for the Chinese School, which opened in the mid-1930s.
It will be the first of its kind in the US, and is one step in our long-term plan to build more schools in New Jersey.
On Tuesday, a group of Chinese students, students from other New Jersey schools and residents of Chinatown gathered to mark the anniversary of the fire, holding a candlelight vigil for the victims and mourning the loss.
