A roof collapse in Sustaining damage to the Sussex Technical and Business School, Sussex University and Harrisburg Technical School in Sussex on Thursday evening caused extensive damage to its roof and was caused by a power line.
The Sussex University School of Engineering said that a power pole fell on the roof of the Sustainable Engineering Building, which was designed by Sir Charles Darwin.
The roof fell on to a wall of the building, causing significant damage, it said.
The roof was removed from the building and the damage to structural integrity was significant.
A spokesperson for the school said it was in the process of removing the damaged roof and restoring the damaged structure.
The spokesperson said the roof was repaired by an external contractor and the students who were in the building were safe.
The university said the damage was extensive and caused significant damage to a number of buildings.
The university said it had been advised that the damaged building was in need of extensive repair.
“The safety of students and staff remains our highest priority and we continue to work with the local authorities to determine the best course of action,” the university said.
“The safety and well-being of our students and members of the public remains our top priority.
We will work with local authorities and stakeholders to identify the best way to manage the impact of this incident.”
The Sustainerable Engineering building has a large number of students on its roof.
It is one of the most popular buildings in the university.
